Detailed Description
Steam Tractor
One of the most interesting experiments to replace the Twenty-mule team, on the Borate-Daggett route, was the use of a steam tractor. ... The machine was sold to the Keane-Wonder Mine where it was put in service over Daylight Pass to Rhyolite. On its second trip it literally blew its boiler where it was dragged aside by a mule team. In later years the borax company sent out a long team and dragged the abandoned relic down to Furnace Creek Ranch where it stands ahead of the borax wagons for the edification of the tourists and to the glory of the Twenty Mule Team ...
