CDV photo (carte de visite) of a woman with tightly wrapped hair and a head scarf, sitting on a chair or bench with brocade or patterned throw. A handwritten note on back shows: "Mrs Ruhama Hopkinson, Silver City, Iowa, care of Jonathan Hopkinson." Results of an internet search suggest that Ruhama was Jonathan's mother.

This item measures approximately 2-1/2 x 3-3/4 inches. The backing card has been trimmed slightly at the lower corners.

The photo is clean and smooth and has very good detail. The top layers of the upper left corner are folded (see image). There are very shallow pressure creases at the centers of the left and right edges.
