Traitor's Gate -- Traitor's Gate is under St Thomas' Tower, and was formerly the entrance of all the state prisoners who were brought by water to the Tower of London. The walls of the Gate have loopholes in them through which the Lieutenant of the Tower could look out upon the prisoners on their arrival, and see whether the axe were carried in front of them right side up or reversed.
