Old Spanish Gates of Cabildo, New Orleans, La.
These hand-made Wrought Iron Gates date from 1765-1790. All stone, brick and lime used in this building were brought over from Spain in sailing ships.
Originally the Fan Top had the Armes of Spain in it, but during the Civil War Gen. Butler had them removed and replaced by the 13 stars and stripes of the United States.

Postcard size, but without the usual postal markings (see image). Artist signed, G F Castleden.
Minor corner tip wear.
